Breyer Custom Steampunk Desatado by Elayne Watrus
This Breyer Custom Steampunk by Desatado is a brand new color by Elayne Watrus. He is a glossy tarnished bronze color and goodness is he lovely!
The Breyer Custom Steampunk Weathergirl by Elayne sold last week and I will be sad to see this Desatado go. He has bids and will sell. I could certainly use the shelf space but I very much enjoyed having these two very special Steampunk Horses to admire. Elayne creates premier Breyer Custom Steampunk Horses especially for us and puts extra work into them, we offer only the best!

We have been woefully behind on listing our beautiful selection of Breyer Custom Steampunk Horses by Elayne Watrus. The last batch of horses that I received from Elayne all had exceptional beauty and attention to detail. To those of you local to Crescent City, Elayne Watrus once called Crescent City home. It’s amazing to me how this sleepy little town produced such a talented and unique artist as well as a wonderful friend. If you have visited Aidan’s Toy Trove Retail Store, we have one of Elayne’s Steampunk Creations on display in our glass display case. Bonus points if you can show me which Breyer Horse the horse in the cabinet was made from! The original Breyer is on our shelves!
I listed a very beautiful Breyer Custom Steampunk Weathergirl to eBay as an auction. The auction ends on the evening of Sunday, January 21st. The starting bid is $399.95, well below what Elayne’s last auction piece sold for. I find that pictures speak better than words. The Best Breyer Gift – My Steampunk Breyer Wintersong
Breyer Custom Steampunk Wintersong
This model horse was an overwhelmingly generous gift from my friend and artist, Elayne Watrus. He is a one of a kind Breyer Custom Steampunk Horse on the Wintersong mold. Elayne kept trying to give me a gift horse at BreyerWest but I thought it too generous and I declined. A couple months later, Elayne sent me pictures of some of the customs that she had in progress. Hanging out in the crowd of half finished horses was this amazing Breyer Custom Wintersong. My jaw dropped when I saw him. This was the horse for me! I quickly offered to to purchase the Wintersong and this time Elayne refused.
Instead, she gifted him to me.
Meet Patches
Meet Patches. Underneath, he is the Breyer Wintersong mold but he is completely resculpted and is adorned with gears, screws, nuts and other fabulous fittings. During the creation process of this horse, he started to fall apart. And thus he was nicknamed Patches. You can click any of the pictures to enlarge them. The Western States Horse Expo
It feels like we are still recovering from BreyerWest 2017. In truth, BreyerWest took place scarcely more than a month ago and we still have pictures and videos to post. Argh!
We are very excited to be vending at the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento, California which will be held June 9 – 11th 2017. You can purchase advanced discounted admission tickets. We will be located in Building D which is close to the main Freedom Arena and the Food Court. The Western States Horse Expo will be offering free bag checking so you can shop til you drop!
We will have twice the booth space that we had at BreyerWest and boy do ever intend to fill it with everything model horse! If you will be attending the Western States Horse Expo, please be sure to stop by and see us! We will have a large selection of new and used Breyer Horses. Our Breyer stock will include the Traditionals and Classics from the Breyer 2017 Lineup, Corral Pals, Mini Whinnies, retired New In Box Breyers, BreyerFest Horses and other Special Run Breyers and loose retired Breyer Horses. We will have a few Breyer Custom horses for sale as well as Breyer tack and accessories. We will have a whole herd of new and retired Breyer Stablemates. We will also have a large selection of Copperfox Model Horses. We will have both first quality Copperfox horses and second quality Copperfox horses. For those that asked for Copperfox bodies, the second quality horses will be discounted and have excellent remake (and shelf) potential! We are still only allowed to sell Copperfox Horses face to face (not online.) However, if you know someone attending the Western States Horse Expo, pickups are permitted 🙂 We will be bringing our $5 barrel that will be filled to the brim with model horse goodies. We are setup to take credit cards and will of course accept cash. We are unable to accept personal checks.
Elayne Watrus will also be attending the Western States Horse Expo with a large selection of her Custom Breyer Steampunk Horses. Elayne has been working steadily to create a variety of styles on a wide range of Breyer molds. There might even be some customized Peter Stones! Please be sure to stop by Elayne’s booth in the art gallery section. Her horses truly must be seen in person to be appreciated.

There are some great model horse auctions ending this weekend. One auction is a very rare Breyer 39 Spot – Glossy Grey Appaloosa Proud Arabian Foal. A number of people asked about time payments on this fellow, we are happy to accept time payments but you must contact us first for prior approval.
If you won’t be attending the Western States Horse Expo, here is your chance to snag a one of a kind custom Breyer by Elayne Watrus. Both of Elayne’s horses have bids and will sell.

The Website, BreyerFest 2017 Pickups, Videos and More!
Here’s to jinxing the new website server but so far everything is running great, wow! Thank you to all that helped us test out the new server. This is looking like it will be a good hosting service for us for the time being. We do have more grand plans for when and if the website really takes off but this is the most economic choice right now and should offer MUCH more stability than the past few months. We use GoDaddy for both our domain and web hosting. I was so very close to outing GoDaddy on their deplorable performance but they made it right as far as I’m concerned and we will stick with them for now. If anyone else uses GoDaddy and is having website problems, keep bugging them, be the squeaky wheel like I was and they may just fix it in the end!
We installed caching on the website. GoDaddy’s built in cache was the original problem with our website. We installed a caching program that we have more control over and will hopefully work with our website. As always, please email us at aidanstoytrove@gmail.com if you encounter any website errors. Specifically, caching programs tend to have a problem with the Store Cart and Checkout. These are the areas that we are concerned with. We are aware with some glitching on the mobile website and are working to remedy it.
You may notice that we started using Google Adsense with the website. If users find this to be too obtrusive, we will stop using it or cut down on the number of ads. As always, your feedback is appreciated!
So that’s what’s up on the website front! Last week was rather interesting. We were without power, internet and cell service (we don’t have a ground line) for part of Thursday and most of Friday. This really put a damper on our productivity. It’s amazing to me just how much we depend on power and the internet! We had hurricane like winds that brought down a lot of our fence. We are a bit concerned about the roof as there were shingles flying everywhere but we have no way of knowing their origin. The barn where Miss Baya lives is on well water. The poor barn lady kept priming the pump every time the power blipped on only to go down minutes later. Those horses need their water!
On the topic of model horses (ya ya, get to the horses already!) We are officially accepting a limited number of pickup slots. You can find the pertinent information at the link below:

Breyer has revealed all of the BreyerFest 2017 Special Runs that they will prior to BreyerFest. The last Sneak Peek is yet to be fully revealed but we have a pretty good idea on the mold and have opened presales for him. However, we won’t make an official listing on the website until the full horse is revealed.
We have some great pricing going on for many of the 2017 Breyers. Please check them out.
Lastly, we have a whole slew of videos that have been posted to Aidan’s Toy Trove YouTube Channel.
There is some rare footage of my unpacking my personal collection Breyer Custom Horses.
