Breyer Halloween Crane Review & Classics Halloween SR History
|December 9, 2016||Posted by aidanstoytrove under Model Horse|
Today I would like to talk about the Breyer Web Special Run 712203 Crane. He is the Classics Scale Rex or Rearing Stallion mold in a glow in the dark decorator appaloosa. He is decorated with skulls and ghouls. The Rearing Stallion mold is one of the few Breyer molds that still retains the ‘B’ stamp on the inside of his upper hind leg. Crane first appeared on Breyer’s website around Halloween (imagine that!) and was limited to one per order. He came in a mail order box. This means that he did not come with the typical yellow Breyer box with the clear plastic front that is commonly seen in stores. Instead, Crane came with a white cardboard carton that was decorated with pink running horses. Crane’s product number is stamped on the bottom of the box but his name does not appear on the box. He comes with a hangtag with his name on it.
Crane is the smaller counter part to Breyer 1747 Ichabod who was the 2015 Traditional Scale Halloween Horse and was limited to 2,500 pieces. Ichabod is the Fighting Stallion mold and was decorated in the same glow in the dark color as Crane. I think it’s safe to assume that Ichabod was the predecessor to Crane 🙂 While Breyer has released the run numbers for their Traditional Scale Halloween Horses, they have not released run numbers for their Classics Scale Halloween Horses.
I was surprised by how well Crane glows in the dark. After just a few minutes under my photo tent lights, he was glowing just as brightly as could be! The glowing faded significantly after a few minutes but I do not know how long Crane would glow with a ‘full charge’. There are videos of Crane further down in this post.
Kasper and Jack
2015 Halloween Web Special Run
During the Halloween season of 2015, Breyer released 712163 Kasper and Jack. They were the Classics AQHA Foal and Morgan Foal molds in a purplish color. They were decorated in ghouls and pumpkins. And you got it, they glowed in the dark! Kasper and Jack were web special runs and sold out quickly. This is likely why Breyer limited Crane to 1 per order.
