Breyer Coeur de Lion Review + YouTube Video & Past Web SRs

Breyer Coeur de Lion 712205

When Breyer first posted Coeur de Lion, I sat on my hands and waited to order. I wasn’t able to resist his glossy goodness and ended up ordering a couple of them. My only regret is not buying more! Coeur de Lion was a 2016 Fall Web Special Run. He was first available only to Collector’s Club members and was limited to 2 per order. Later, the leftovers were opened to the public and he was gone in a flash. I believe that Coeur de Lion sold out in less than 2 months.  http://www.breyerhorses.com/coeur-de-lion

Breyer Coeur de Lion 712205 – Glossy Dunalino Blanket Appaloosa – Classic Terrang

The Breyer 712205 Coeur de Lion is on the Classics Terrang mold. He is a gorgeous glossy dunalino blanket appaloosa. He has primitive leg barring on his legs and smooth as glass high gloss finish. He came with a generic Breyer hangtag and a mail order box. From the Coeur de Lions that I have personally seen, the mold detailing is remarkably crisp. It’s not perfect but it’s much better than the the Classic Arabian Mare who’s detail has softened greatly over the years. His paint job is very nice. Mine have a few goobers in the gloss but no major paint flaws. Coeur de Lion’s paint job is very similar to the popular Breyer 2012 Flagship Special Run 760250 Lionheart that was released on the Esprit mold.

Breyer’s Terrang mold is nearly identical to Hagen Renaker’s Terrang sculpt. Decades ago, Breyer leased the rights to use various molds from Hagen Renaker. In more recent years, Breyer was not able to use Hagen Renaker’s molds. This included the Proud Arabian Mare and the Classic Racehorses and some others that I’m sure that I am forgetting. In the past couple of years, Breyer has been releasing these old Love molds in limited numbers. I’m not sure if these are left over blanks that Breyer is painting up or if Breyer again leased the rights to some of the Lovely (get it?!) old molds.

Breyer 711997 Cosette

In 2014 Breyer released the Web Special Run 711997 Cosette. She is the Classic Arabian Mare Mold which was also sculpted by Maureen Love for Hagen Renaker. She is a beautifully shaded chestnut tobiano pinto that was designed by Tom Bainbridge. Her color is breathtaking.

Breyer 712162 Julien and Sophia

In 2015 Breyer released the Web Special Run 712162 Julien and Sophia. They are the Classic Arabian Stallion and Classic Arabian Foal molds which were also sculpted by Maureen Love for Hagen Renaker. Like Cosette, their paint jobs were designed by Tom Bainbridge. This was a beautiful set but in my opinion, the run lacked quality control. I ordered several of this set and I only kept a few of them as they were so heavily flawed.
