Meet Calvin – A Breyer 2017 Collector’s Club Gambler’s Choice

Breyer Calvin 712237

Breyer 2017 Collector’s Club Members are being treated to a special run classics scale Gambler’s Choice model! Last year, Breyer offered Scotty on the Classic Swaps mold who turned out to be wildly popular. This year, Breyer chose the Classic Ariat or Show Stock Horse mold. He is being offered in 3 different color, each of which is limited to 5oo pieces. The colors are all blanket appaloosas and the base colors are:

I personally was hoping for another mold sculpted by Maureen love but Calvin is still very cute ๐Ÿ™‚ Calvin is priced at $30. Domestic shipping is $10.95. He is limited to one per account. Calvin must be purchased by October 23rd. Scotty sold out fairly quickly and I anticipate that Calvin will also sell out though I doubt as quickly as Scotty sold out. Here is what Breyer has to say about Calvin:

A Breyer Collector Club Exclusive Gamblerโ€™s Choice!

The Gambler’s Choice is back! Distinguished by a white spotted blanket, Calvin comes in chestnut, bay, and metallic interference blue! There are 500 of each color, and colors will be randomly selected for you. Each piece is beautifully shaded and makes a lovely Appaloosa. Enjoy the surprise!

While I don’t regret ordering Duende on the day of his release, part of me wishes that I had waited to order so that I could have taken advantage of combined shipping. Aw well, I’ll wait for something else that I need from Breyer before ordering Goblin ๐Ÿ™‚

For reference, this last year’s Classic Halloween model Crane who also glows in the dark.

Breyer Duende Available To Order! The Lusitano, the Andalusian and the PRE

Breyer Duende Available To Order! The Lusitano, the Andalusian and the PRE

Breyer Duende 90185 Premier Club

He’s here, he’s here he’s here! Or at least he’s available to order. Whip out your wallets, Duende is available to order! Duende is the 2nd release in the Breyer 2017 Premier Club. I was curious as to his breed designation as I believe that Mindy owns a Lusitano. However, Breyer calls Duende a PRE.

Here in the USA, the International Andalusian Horse Association lumps the Andalusian and the Lusitano together and refers to them as both Andalusians. The Pura Raza Espanola has pure Spanish bloodlines that are heavily regulated and are registered in the Spanish studbook in Spain. The Lusitano is referred to as APSL and they are registered in Portugal. The IALHA allows crossbreeding between the PRE and the Lusitano. Neither the registry in Portugal or in Spain allow for crossbreeding between the bloodlines and will not register these horses as pure. For those of you wondering, my Andalusian Mare is registered through the IALHA as pure spanish. This means that her bloodlines all originate from Spanish bloodlines but that along the way, one of her ancestors was not presented or approved for the PRE registry.

Breyer Duende 90185 Premier Club

But enough about bloodlines, here is what Breyer has to say about Duende, the brand horse sculpted and designed by Mind Berg:

Breyer Duende 90185 Premier Club

The Second Release in the 2017 Premier Collection

Duende is a Pura Raza Espaรฑola stallion, also known as the PRE or Pure Spanish Horse. Originating on the Iberian Peninsula, the PRE’s eye-catching combination of grace and power created an athletic and versatile horse that excels in most disciplines, but is best known for dressage.

This Premier Collection exclusive release was sculpted and originally painted by artist Mindy Berg, and features a dapple grey coat with realistic shading, detailed eyes, and a flowing mane and tail. Duende is standing collected, showcasing his deep chest, roundness of body, and the PRE’s classically beautiful head. Duende means the mysterious power of art to deeply move a person. Having seen the name in passing, Mindy knew it was destined to be a name for one of her sculptures. Speaking on the meaning of the word Duende, she said, “It’s all that an artist can ever wish for their piece to do.”

Tack and accessories not included.

For those of you with a current Breyer 2017 Premier Club Membership, here is a direct link to Duende’s purchase page. The purchase price of Duende is $141.66 plus $17.50 for standard ground shipping within the US. This includes a credit of $33.34 which was paid upon joining the Breyer 2017 Premier Club. This brings Duende’s total purchase price to $192.50 (or $175 plus shipping.) Breyer’s website states that shipping will take place the week of 9/18 and 9/25.ย  Your purchase must be completed by 9/28. Don’t want your Duende? We will happily purchase your slot from you!

eBay Fall 2017 Update – Cause To Close Up Shop

eBay Fall 2017 Update – Cause To Close Up Shop

eBay Watermark Ban

We have paid for and run a successful eBay Store for several years. Each year, eBay has progressively made things more difficult for sellers. Some examples include:

  • Accepting a return and paying shipping both directions and refunding in full even if you receive an empty box
  • An automatic win for buyers who file a Significantly Not as Described case with no photographic or other proof required
  • Forcing a 24 hour handling AND scan time for Top Rated Sellers (the seller is at fault if USPS fails to scan on the day the package is shipped even if the package is scanned as delivered on time)
  • Pushing for sellers to offer a Guaranteed Delivery Date in return for better listing visibility (seller must offer 24 hour handling and is responsible for refunding shipping or the cost of the item if the package is not scanned within the 24 hour window)

The eBay Fall 2017 Update broke the last straw for us. The deal breaker being the ban of watermarked images and forcing all sellers to allow eBay to use any pictures uploaded for eBay’s use in advertising as well as for other seller’s listings. We could deal with reverting to stock images for new Breyers. However, allowing other sellers to use our unwatermarked photos for retired and unique Breyer horses is unacceptable to us. We describe the condition down to the smallest flaws and take great care to provide clear and accurate photos. I spend over 20 hours a week editing photos and refuse to let others use the photos without at least a watermark to denote that the picture was taken by us. This would also allow sellers with a model in lesser condition to use our photos to represent their model horse. Nor do I have time to ‘remove’ watermarks. Once our watermark is in place, it’s permanent. I can’t just erase it. The eBay community has been hinting at the ban of watermarked images for the past year. I called and spoke with eBay about the issue several times prior to the official announcement and was assured that the watermark ban would not and could not happen as it would infringe on intellectual property. eBay plans to roll out the picture watermark ban in March of 2018. We plan to shut down our eBay Store prior to this date.

For any of you that sell on eBay, be aware that as of March 2018 eBay will own all rights to your photos and you may not mark them as your own in any way. Yes artists, this rule applies to you!

On the upside, were in desperate need of a website overhaul and this gives us the perfect reason to do finally do it. We will migrate all of our eBay listings over to out website prior to March 2018.
