Breyer Kohana – First 2018 Stablemate Club Horse
Kohana, the first release in the Breyer 2018 Stablemate Club was released earlier this month. I just now got around to purchasing my personal (and only) copy. He is the Breyer Stablemate G3 Mustang mold with sculpted on feathers in his mane. He is a beautiful bay roan pinto with yellow and red ribbons.
He comes packaged in a minature Breyer box which I will be sure to take pictures of when he arrives. Kohana’s color was designed by Franceyn Dare. I am a big fan of Franceyn’s work and I own a number of Breyer Custom Horses which were made by her. For fun, here are 2 of my customs by Franceyn:
Kohana’s cost from Breyer is $15 (plus a $5 credit from the membership fee.) Domestic shipping is $5.95 which brings the total cost to $25.95. The American Indian name “Kohana” means swift, and this mustang certainly looks like he’s living up to his name! Designed by Franceyn Dare, Kohana has a flashy bay roan pinto coat that’s enhanced by mapped markings. Exclusively designed for 2018 Club members, he also has a new feature never before seen on this mold: beautifully-detailed molded feathers adorning his mane! Kohana comes in a miniature Traditional-style window box.

Dead Heat – BreyerFest 2018 Special Run
Dead Heat is a BreyerFest 2018 Special Run, presumably a Tent Special Run. Of note, the Breyer Tent location will be moved away from the Breyer Store this year. I’m curious to see what the configuration will look like! Dead Heat is the Ruffian mold in a pretty chestnut blanket appaloosa. Dead Heat is the term used when 2 competitors finish a race at the exact same moment. I really like the color on this one but I’m not sure what to think about the appaloosa coloring going along with the Off to the Races BreyerFest theme. I haven’t heard of an appaloosa colored Thoroughbred but I know that there are pintos and other fun colors! That might be a fun little something to research during some down time 🙂
Dead Heat appears to have the longer tail unlilke the shortened tail of the Breyer 1757 American Pharoah.
Prior releases on the Ruffian mold also had the longer tail. American Pharoah was the first on the mold to have the shortened tail.

Introducing the Fifth Release in the America the Beautiful Series – Kaibab!
Breyer 2018 Collector’s Club Members rejoice, the newest web special run was released this morning (or afternoon depending on where you live)! His name is Kaibab and his product number 711251. He is the old Chris Hess Show Stance Morgan who I refer to as the Stretch Morgan. Kaibab is a gorgeous glossy silver dapple tobiano pinto. Current 2018 Breyer Collector’s Club Members may enter once per day through February 11th, 2018 for the chance to purchase Kaibab. He is priced at $185 and I anticipate his postage will be the standard $17.50 for UPS Smart Post (domestic only, International postage is more.) Speaking of the Stretch Morgan mold, did you see the wonderful Woodgrain Morgan that just sold on eBay? This was not my auction but I wish it was! I wonder who the lucky high bidder was?

Kaibabi is part of the America the Beautiful Series. My personal favorite in the series is still Rainier.
I’m not sure if I will be entering for Kaibab or not. Money is tight right now and I’m not sure that he makes me want to whip out my wallet to the tune of $202.50. Hrrmmmm. I just received a mystery box from Breyer yesterday that appears to be a backorder but is rather crushed and I need to examine the contents. I’ll have to think about Kaibab and check that the mystery horse I received is in good condition. Thinking thinking…

Breyer Custom Steampunk Desatado by Elayne Watrus
This Breyer Custom Steampunk by Desatado is a brand new color by Elayne Watrus. He is a glossy tarnished bronze color and goodness is he lovely!
The Breyer Custom Steampunk Weathergirl by Elayne sold last week and I will be sad to see this Desatado go. He has bids and will sell. I could certainly use the shelf space but I very much enjoyed having these two very special Steampunk Horses to admire. Elayne creates premier Breyer Custom Steampunk Horses especially for us and puts extra work into them, we offer only the best!
