BreyerFest 2017 Pickups Complete

Hi folks. We were once again successfully able to pickup all of the BreyerFest horses for our customers. The horses are currently in transit by car and will be back here in California on Friday. We will start shipping orders out on Monday, July 24th and anticipate having all of the orders shipped by the end of that week. We are also shipping Mid  Year Releases orders. Some of the Mid Year Releases are shipping this week but the vast majority will ship next week when we have more hands on deck. Right now it’s just me at home!

Breyer Calavera 1778 2017 Halloween Horse Sugar Skulls Theme

There was a production delay on Calavera and he is now expected to ship in August. Everyone was effected and no Breyer dealers (or Breyer for that matter) have this horse on hand. Please email us at aidanstoytrove@gmail.com if you ordered a Calavera through us. Shipping is additional if you want your Mid Year Horses shipped now and Calavera shipped when he is in hand. This additional shipping cost will be discounted for any that ordered Calavera before today. There is no additional charge if you prefer to have us hold your entire Mid Year Release order until Calavera is in hand and we can combine all of the horses together. Again, Breyer is saying that Calavera is expected to ship from them in August. I can confirm that there were no Calaveras at BreyerFest so there was definitely some sort of hiccup with his production.

For Kentucky, the weather was quite mild and overall pleasant. This was a nice change from the brutal heat of last year. Breyer also set up new tents with misting fans to cover the entire tent and store line. It was wonderful! We will have some extra BreyerFest Special Runs for sale but we didn’t get the chance to inventory what we had before packing them up and loading them in the car. Again, all of the BreyerFest preorders were filled, it’s just the extras that I’m not sure on the numbers on. You will see the extra BreyerFest Horses offered for sale on the website store and on eBay. Hint, the website store will be cheaper than eBay 🙂

I flew 2 suitcases home full of BreyerFest Horses (and clothes, boring!) I posted videos on Aidan’s Toy Trove YouTube Channel of the suitcase unloading and unwrapping. Enjoy!

Farewell BreyerFest 2017

Farewell BreyerFest 2017

Dallas Fort Worth Texas

We pulled an all nighter to get everything packed up and ready to bring home. We ended up shipping 3 boxes home, bought a second suitcase for me to fly home and squished the rest into the rental van. I had a 6am flight out of Lexington and I left for the airport with all of the boxes pretty much packed and ready to go. I was so exhausted that I fell asleep before the plane took off and I feel like I was teleported to Dallas Fort Worth airport where I am currently waiting for my connecting flight to Portland International Airport. From there I will catch a small hopper plane and fly the rest of the way to Crescent City. Both of my layovers are rather extended. So while it is rather boring sitting around the airport, I have a pretty good chance of making all of my flight connections (unlike last year…)!

I’m anxious to check on our elder cat who has a plentiful array of health problems. I’m not looking forward to cleaning up the mess that the cats have surely made in our absence but if skinny cat is still shuffling around I will be a super happy camper!

BreyerFest 2017 Custom Breyer Steampunk Horses by Elayne Watrus

We had a fantastic time at BreyerFest 2017. I wish that we had arrived earlier but live and learn, we will be there earlier next year 😊 We got a very late start at setting up room sales. Thank you to all that came by and introduced yourselves. That was so exciting!

We are all rather exhausted but will be slowly ramping back up to our normal shipping volume and more importantly consistent retail hours.

We were able to pickup all of the BreyerFest Presales and the Mid Year Releases are in stock and waiting to ship out to customers. I will start shipping the Mid Year Releases this week and we will start shipping the BreyerFest orders on Monday, July 24th. The vast majority of the BreyerFest horses are in minivan and won’t be back in California until Friday.

Safe travels everyone!

Breyer Chestnut Pinto Shannondell BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Lot

Breyer revealed their last and final auction lot. It is a lovely chestnut sabino pinto Shannondell. Goodness is she ever gorgeous.

Here is what the BreyerFest Blog has to say about the Chestnut Pinto Shannondell:

With BreyerFest Gateway to India starting tomorrow we had to end our countdown on a strong note!

Meet our last and final lot, the Shire Gelding in a Metallic Chestnut Sabino Pinto. This model features the loose mane and tail while Vahana, a Special Run, features the braided mane and tail. Karen Gerhardt sculpted this magnificent horse which was introduced in 2016 as Shannondell.

The Road To BreyerFest 2017

The Road To BreyerFest 2017

BreyerFest 2017 Minivan

Today is Wednesday, July 12th. BreyerFest is just now setting in as REAL! We have had a lot on our plate with our retail store grand opening on July 4th. Unfortunately, with the timing of BreyerFest, we were forced to close the store shortly after opening. As much as we would have loved to take the cargo trailer to BreyerFest, the gas would have cost too much. We decided to rent a minivan and fill it to the brim with plastic horses (what could be better?!) On Friday, hubby drove from Crescent City, California to Medford, Oregon to pickup our rental minivan. This is over a 2 hour drive one way. Aaaand, the rental place didn’t have the minivan that we had reserved nor could they locate one. After hours of searching and driving around, hubby was able to find a minivan but at double the price. Blargh! But we took what we could get!

Here is a picture all loaded up with my show horses, Copperfox Horses, custom Steampunk Horses by Elayne Watrus and assorted sales models. If you are attending BreyerFest, we are selling out of Clarion Room 228. Aidan and hubby originally planned to leave on Friday evening but with the delay in acquiring the minivan, they weren’t able to leave until Saturday afternoon. The drive from Crescent City, California to Lexington, Kentucky is approximately 2,500 miles and 38 hours of driving. Here are some pictures from the drive.

Elko Nevada

Aidan happy as a clam in Elko Nevada with his portable DVD player!

Denlo Nevada

A pretty rainbow in Denlo, Nevada.

Kearney Nebraska

A neat bridge in Kearney, Nebraska.

Auburn Nebraska

A quaint town in Auburn, Nebraska

St. Louis Missouri

Getting closer to Lexington now in St. Louis, Missouri!

Cats Alex and Wendol

Alex and Wendol

So where have I been throughout this lengthy road trip? I’ve been at home running the website store, the eBay Store and taking care of the animals. The orange cat is Wendol and the grey cat is Alex. Alex has some health problems and requires multiple pills a day. He dropped from 14 pounds to just under 9 pounds and it has been a struggle keeping weight on him. His appetite went from insatiable to just enough to keep from losing further weight. After hubby left, Alex started acting more ill than normal so I medicated him the best that I could and I’m just hoping that he makes it through the time that I am gone at BreyerFest 🙁 We have a neighbor coming over to take care of the cats and the bird.

Kit the Kat

Kit the Kat

Did you think we had just 2 cats? Ha, no, that would be too easy! The black and white cat is Kit and she is Aidan’s cat. She requires a prescription diet. Here she is checking out her brand new case of prescription food!

CEC Crescent City Airport

Crescent City, California Airport

Today, Wednesday, I woke up bright and early and caught a flight out of our tiny local airport. We only have 1 terminal and a propeller plane!

PDX Portland International Airport

Portland International Airport

As I write this blog post, I am sitting at PDX, the main airport for Portland, Oregon. I have a 4 hour layover here and am waiting on my flight to Dallas. I roamed the airport terminals for a good spot to sit and was able to find a seat within range of the internet and with power. Hurray!

Portland International Airport

Work work work…

I need to grab a bite to eat and then head to the terminal for my next flight. I already scoped it out and there is no internet in that terminal, BOOOOO! My estimated time of arrival in Lexington is 11:58pm tonight. On Thursday, we will check into the Clarion and start to set up room sales.
