BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Models – 4 Test Colors!

BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Models

Breyer has been busy posting a number of lovely BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction models. I’ve been woefully behind on my BreyerFest posts but I suppose that late is better than never!

BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Models

The first auction model is a lovely glossy dark dapple bay pinto on the Mangalarga Marchador or Imperador das Aguas mold.
BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Model Dark Bay Tobiano Mangalarga Marchador Imperador
To remember BreyerFest Carnival we started with Sarah Minkiewicz – Breunig’s Mangalarga Marchador (Mold #738) in a Glossy Dark Dapple Bay Tobiano Pinto.

Breyer Imperador das Aguas JM 711234

This mold was first released at BreyerFest 2016 as the Celebration Horse Imperador das Agaus.

The second auction model is dark bay roan on the Breyer Show Jumping Warmblood mold which was sculpted by Sue Sifton. Breyer labeled his picture as a grulla but a bay roan definitely seems more suitable.

BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Model Grulla Warmblood Show Jumping Warmblood

The second Live Auction model is a rich, dark Bay Roan on the Warmblood Show Jumper (mold #579).

The third auction model is the well loved Adios mold in a flashy chestnut appaloosa Adios. I anticipate that this fellow will be quite popular!

BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Model Chestnut Appaloosa Adios

Sunday’s model is a Flaxen Chestnut Appaloosa on mold 50, the classic Adios model from Chris Hess.

The fourth auction model is the Totilas mold in a beautiful bay tobiano pinto. He is just lovely and I would proudly take him home if I had the money! The BreyerFest 2016 Live Auction featured a glossy chestnut Totilas but this fellow is distinctly different from him.

BreyerFest 2017 Live Auction Model Bay Tobiano Totilas

Totilas (mold #725) looks especially handsome in this Red Bay Tobiano Pinto. Best of luck to all of our bidders!

BreyerFest 2017 Birds of Paradise – Silent Auction Test Color

BreyerFest 2017 Birds of Paradise – Silent Auction Test Color

Breyer Birds of Paradist BreyerFest 2017 Silent Auction Piece

I can’t believe it’s THAT time of year again! Breyer has started to reveal the test colors which will be auctioned at BreyerFest 2017! Today’s reveal was Birds of Paradise. He is the popular Silver mold which was sculpted by Kathleen Moody and is a decorator with a Birds of Paradise theme. At BreyerFest 2016, I was bidding for a friend in the silent auction for an absolutely stunning test color light dapple grey Silver with Carnival Costume. I sweat all over that poor horse and called him mine for all of half of a day before sending him away <sniff>. I have an inkling that I may be a bidding on Birds of Paradise at BreyerFest 2017. We shall see!

Here is what the BreyerFest Blog has to say about Birds of Paradise:

To celebrate the Live Auction countdown starting over on Breyer News tomorrow we wanted to share one of our favorite Silent Auction items!

In the office he’s fondly referred to as our “Bird of Paradise” Pegasus test model and was donated by Breyer. This vibrant fellow is on the fan favorite Silver mold (#574), which was introduced in 2001 and sculpted by Kathleen Moody.

We’ll share more of the Silent Auction items over the next few weeks so keep an eye on the Breyer Blog. And make sure you visit the Breyer Booth in the Covered Arena to bid on this colorful guy and all of our other Silent Auction Lots! The money raised will help our outstanding BreyerFest Beneficiaries!

Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases!

Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases!

Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases

As luck would have it, the Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases were announced while we were away at the Western States Horse Expo. I still need to write a blog post about our time at the Expo but today I want to talk about the Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases! Boy does Breyer have some goodies in store! The Breyer 2017 Mid Year Releases are expected to ship from us in July and we do have them available for preorder.

Breyer Calavera 1778 2017 Halloween Horse Sugar Skulls Theme

Breyer 1778 Calavera – 2017 Halloween Horse

The horse that I am most excited about is the Breyer 2017 Halloween Horse. He is the Breyer 1778 Calavera. He is the popular Ethereal mold which was sculpted by Kathleen Moody. He is a Halloween themed decorator with a Sugar Skulls Theme. Here is what Breyer has to say about Calavera:

2017 Halloween Horse – Sugar Skulls Theme!

Every fall, the Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) is observed in Latin America. While skull and skeleton imagery is prevalent, the holiday is anything but scary! Dia de Los Muertos is a time of celebration and remembrance, full of colorful festivals, music, and activities to honor those who have passed away. It’s a beautiful occasion where people choose to honor their deceased with joy instead of sorrow. Calavera is a colorful stallion named after the ornate sugar skulls that inspired his coat decorations. The colors used represent many elements of the Dia de los Muertos: pink for joy and celebration, purple for grief, white for purity and hope, and orange and yellow for the sun and marigolds (the flower of the dead). This limited-edition model has “Calavera 2017” written on his belly.

Breyer Cobra 1784Breyer 1784 Cobra Mustang Magic

The Breyer 1784 Cobra Mustang Magic is a portrait model of a real mustang gelding who is the winner of Bronze and Silver Medals in United States Dressage Federation. Cobra is a U.S. Federation Horse of the Year and a Western Dressage World Champion! He is the Flash mold in a richly shaded bay with freeze brands. Here is what Breyer says about Cobra:

Mustang Magic!

Mustang gelding Cobra has been beating the odds ever since he met a trainer willing to take a chance. Born in the wild in 2004 and gathered with his herd, Cobra was passed over three times for adoption, making him a “three strikes” mustang who would likely live out his life in a Bureau of Land Management facility. His future changed when he was adopted by Marsha Hartford-Sapp for the 2010 Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover, a competition where trainers gentle and train mustangs in 100 days. After successfully competing in the Makeover, Marsha began training Cobra in dressage. In 2013 they started competing in United States Dressage Federation (USDF) shows, and within six months they scored enough points for Marsha to earn USDF’s Bronze and Silver Medals! Now a U.S. Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year and Western Dressage World Champion, Cobra has made the most of second chances!

Breyer Slick by Design 1785 Barrel Racing Black Stallion

Breyer 1785 Slick by Design

The Breyer 1785 Slick by Design is also a portrait model. Slick is a jet black Quarter Horse Stallion. He holds the National Finals Rodeo record for the fast stallion. Slick is portrayed on the popular Breyer Smart Chic Olena mold which was sculpted by Susan Carlton Sifton. Here is what Breyer says about Slick by Design:

Barrel Racing Black Stallion

Barrel racing is an exciting sport that requires speed, agility, and precision. Competing against the clock, a horse and rider dash in a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels, before galloping through the finish. Slick By Design, a 2007 Quarter Horse, is the all-time money-earning barrel racing stallion. “Slick” holds the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) record for the fastest stallion to ever run – 13.48 seconds! He’s also won 19 Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Championships, and is an American Quarter Horse Association World Champion to boot! As a sire and competitor, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Slick and his rider Michele McLeod!

Breyer PVF Peace of Mind 1786Breyer 1786 PVF Peace of Mind

The Breyer 1786 PVF Peace of Mind is also a portrait model. She is a bright bay Morgan mare and is the top combined driving horse in the country. PVF Peace of mind is on the Marabella mold which was sculpted by Kathleen Moody. Here is what Breyer has to say about PVF Peace of Mind:

Combined Driving Champion

Horses that compete in Combined Driving events are the tri-athletes of the carriage driving world. Their competitions have three phases: dressage, cross-country marathon, and cone driving. Each phase tests the horse and driver’s versatility and athleticism. One of the biggest names in Combined Driving is Suzy Stafford. A devotee of her sport, she’s won numerous World and National Championship titles, and is the first American driver to have won a World Championship. She’s making history again with her equine partner PVF Peace of Mind, known as “Hunny.” The 2007 Morgan mare is the number one combined driving horse in the country, and was named International Horse of the Year and inducted into the U.S. Equestrian Federation Hall of Fame!

Breyer Cosmus Classics Pegasus 62052Breyer 62052 Cosmus Classics Pegasus

The Breyer 62052 Cosmus is on the Classic Pegasus mold. He is a pearly white and lavender decorator. Cosmus compliments the Forthwind Unicorn perfectly! Here is what Breyer has to say about Cosmus:

Classics Pegasus

Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, is a beloved figure in Greek mythology, associated with thunder and lightning and known as a symbol of wisdom and inspiration for poetry.  Cosmus is a beautiful Pegasus with a pearly, lavender coat that shines as brilliantly as the constellation of stars named Pegasus.

Breyer Man O' War 9149Breyer 9149 Man O’ War

I was a bit surprised by the last and final Breyer 2017 Mid Year Release. He is the Breyer 9149 Man O’ War and is the Classic Man O’ War mold in a rich chestnut. Man O’ War was one of the greatest Thoroughbred racehorses of all time. I’m happy that Breyer is again using one of the lovely old Maureen Love sculpts and his coloring appears distinctly different from the original Breyer 602 Man O’ War. This particular Man O’ War was originally offered by Kentucky Horse Park earlier in the year. I assumed he was a special run for KHP but Man O’ War is instead a Breyer 2017 Mid Year Release. Here is what Breyer has to say about Man O’ War:

Racing Legend

Man O’ War, his name now synonymous with racing glory, had a brief but impactful career. In the two years he raced, he won an incredible 20 out of 21 races. Nicknamed “Big Red” for his tall stature and rich chestnut coat, the big horse with the big stride became an equine celebrity. His star status was boosted by the last race of his career against Sir Barton. Sir Barton was the first winner of what would become known as the Triple Crown, and Man O’ War prevailed by seven lengths! After retiring to stud, he continued to leave his mark on the sport by siring 64 stakes winners. His champion progeny include 1937 Triple Crown winner War Admiral, British Grand National Winner Battleship, and Seabiscuit’s sire Hard Tack. Man O’ War is considered one of the greatest racehorses of all time. He is buried at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, underneath an impressive bronze statue of his likeness.
