Breyer Premier Club Geronimo Available To Order

Breyer Premier Club Geronimo

This first Breyer Premier Club horse of 2016 is available to order! The Breyer Premier Club Geronimo is a brand new sculpt by Mooning Piglet Studios and is catchy grullo pinto designed by Melanie Miller of Chinook Studios. Despite his beautiful artistry, I don’t think that I will be keeping Geronimo for my personal collection. I anticipate having him listed on the website soon. He is priced at $220ppd in the US. Please feel free to email me at aidanstoytrove@gmail.com if you are interested in purchasing.

Breyer describes Geronimo as:

Geronimo is the first release in the 2016 Premier Collection of new sculptures featuring exquisite hand-painted decoration and he sets the bar for the exciting and creative artistry you’ll be enjoying all year long!

Geronimo was brought to life by the same talented sculptor of Breyer’s popular Lonesome Glory and Spirit models! While Geronimo is standing, this stallion’s sense of purpose and pride is felt by all who behold him. Is he scanning the horizon, surveying the trail for dangers ahead? Preparing to enter the show arena and dazzle the judges? Only you can decide!

Decorated by the skilled hands of artist Melanie Miller of Chinook Studios, who is much-praised for her amazing work bringing a model horse to life with her paint brush, Geronimo’s coat doesn’t disappoint! Melanie’s expertise with creating lifelike Paint and Pinto color patterns, coupled with her years of experience in the hobby and as a horsewoman produced the unique and realistic grullo pinto coat for Geronimo that you see today!

One of Breyer’s earlier articles on Geronimo provided a bit more in depth information about Geronimo’s creation.

The New Year is a few days away and we can’t wait for the new 2016 Premier Club Collection. These brand new sculptures take months to create and even longer to tool, and the artistry involved in every step of the way is something we’re very proud of! We’re so excited about Geronimo, the first 2016 release that we decided to share this model’s inspiration right away! Enjoy!

This beautiful new sculpture was created in the one and only Mooning Piglet Studio, by one of our favorite sculptors! (Due to her other contractual obligations, we can only refer to her studio name. She is the sculptor of some of Breyer’s most popular pieces: Lonesome Glory and Spirit!) After discussing the new stock horse sculpt, we couldn’t wait to see it come to life! While mustangs and draft breeds are some of this artist’s favorite breeds to sculpt, she enjoys working on just about every breed of horse, as well as a vast array of other animals and birds. “This model was fun because it was based on the athletic and versatile type of Quarter Horse. These are the ones I like,” she said. Working with a variety of reference images from today and yesterday including the great “Lady Bug’s Moon,” the model came together: fit, proud and balanced – a horse you’d love to own in real life!

The enthusiasm continued through Melanie’s work as well. “I love this horse; I knew right away that I wanted to do some sort of pinto design,” said Melanie Miller, who created the model’s coat color. Geronimo’s frame pattern stemmed from the idea of a medicine hat, suggested by Breyer’s Stephanie Macejko. Melanie wanted a pattern that would be bold and flashy: “originally I was looking up references for a tobiano based pattern, but when I decided the base color would be Grullo, I realized he should be frame instead, to better show off his color,” said Melanie.

Breyer 39 Appaloosa Foal Spot – Rare Proud Arabian Foal on eBay

Breyer 39 Appaloosa Foal Spot

I listed a very rare Breyer 39 Appaloosa Foal Spot to eBay.  He is the Proud Arabian Foal mold in a glossy grey appaloosa and was made to match the 38 Appaloosa Mare Speck. He was produced for 1 year only back in 1959. Both the Speck and Spot were later replaced with the Family Arabian Mare and the Family Arabian Foal in glossy grey appaloosas. This particular fellow is a bit of peculiarity. His left front leg is straighter and more outstretched than the other 2 39 Spot Arabian Foals that have come through here. To me, it looks factory but it may have warped over time. He is older than me after all! Regardless, I didn’t want to mess with the leg on such a rarity and I opted to leave it alone. I rather like him the way that he is. He reminds me a bit of the knobby kneed FAF 🙂

You can see his listing here http://www.ebay.com/itm/222123522477

Below are pictures of another Spot to compare the leg to. The PAF at auction is on the left. What are your thoughts?

Mancha and Gato – BreyerFest 2016 Special Runs & Guest Horses!

Have you seen Mancha and Gato? This dynamic duo will be released in the Breyer Mercado at BreyerFest 2016 Carnival! I am unsure if they will be released as a set or offered for sale separately. My best guess is that they will be sold separately although they certainly seem to belong together!

Mancha translates to the ‘Spotted One’. She is depicted on the Breyer Classics Duchess mold and is a pretty red chestnut piebald pinto. Gato translate to ‘Cat’ and is the rarely seen Classics Stock Horse Gelding mold that was sculpted by Sommer Prosser in a pretty buckskin. Some of you may recognize him as being adapted from the porcelain model 8131 Sir Buckingham who was produced from 2002 – 2005. The mold was also present at the BreyerFest 2014 as 711189 Let’s Celebrate. He was a decorator with pictures of past BreyerFest Celebration horses to commemorate BreyerFest’s 25th Silver Jubilee Anniversary. Let’s Celebrate was Popup Store Special Run and that was limited to 350 pieces. Most recently, the Classics Stock Horse Gelding was released as Liam, The 2015 Horse of the Year. Liam was a pretty red roan.

The real Mancha and Gato were wild horses that journeyed across countless countries with Aime Tschiffley. Their story is fascinating and is summarized on the BreyerFest Blog. Both Mancha and Gato will be attending BreyerFest 2016 Carnival as guest horses. How cool is that?

More information on the real Mancha and Gato can be found on the Long Riders Guild Website www.thelongridersguild.com.

I am not offering presales on Mancha and Gato. Historically, I have had very poor luck obtaining store special runs. However, I do have a number of BreyerFest 2016 Carnival Tent Special Runs and the Celebration Horse Imperador das Aguas available for preorder.

Breyer 1755 Patriot Limited Edition Independence Day Saddlebred!

Breyer 1755 Patriot

Have you seen the new limited edition Breyer 1755 Patriot?

Breyer 1755 Patriot

He is the popular American Saddlebred Stallion sculpted by Kathleen Moody. He is a beautiful translucent red and blue decorator and commemorates Independence Day 2016. He is limited to 3,000 pieces and is sure to be a favorite among collectors (and noncollectors too!) Breyer says this about him:

On July 4, 1776, the American colonies celebrated their new-found independence from the British Empire.  In celebration of Independence Day 2016, the master artists at Breyer have created a unique and beautiful decorative model in honor of the 240th anniversary of the first Independence Day! Taking his name from the brave American colonists who fought in the Revolutionary War against the British, Patriot is festively decorated in the colors of the American flag, complete with stars along his flanks and on his face. Not only is Patriot’s color symbolic of America, but his breed is too! The American Saddlebred is
one of the nation’s first unique breeds of horse. Called the “American Horse” during the time of the American Revolution, the Saddlebred became a popular mount for everyone from farmers to pioneers, and was the horse of choice for war generals Robert E. Lee (Traveller) and Ulysses S. Grant (Cincinatti)!

Breyer’s limited edition Patriot is a breathtaking beauty in shades of red, white and blue acrylic with iridescent stars. This American Saddlebred shows off its flowing mane and tail

From what I have heard, Patriot is very nicely done. Some people who were able to preorder in the first couple of days have received their Patriots and he is already commanding an impressive price on the secondary market. We have some Breyer 1755 Patriots on order from my distributor. However, my distributor does not have an expected ship date. I’m guessing that he will be available in June or July. I also do not have pricing information. However, I am making a wait list for those who are interested in purchasing a Breyer 1755 Patriot from us. No deposit is due. Please email us at aidanstoytrove@gmail.com if you would like to be notified when Patriot is in stock.
