Breyer Markus & Sugarmaple
We’re pleased to announce that we will be receiving both Sugarmaple and Markus. Markus is a Brick and Mortar Store Special Run and is not to be sold online. As such, Markus will be available exclusively for sale in our retail store in Crescent City, California.
The sale of Sugarmaple online is permitted. Sugarmaple is now available to preorder through us. I’ll make a post on our Aidan’s Toy Trove Facebook Page when Sugarmaple is ready to preorder.

Meet Markus – A Breyer Fall Brick n Mortar Special Run
Here is the basic information on the flyer as I know it is hard to read:
- Limited to 3000 Pieces
- 12 Pieces per customer
- Ships mid September 2017
1781 Marcus
- Markus is a cross between a Black Forest Horse and a Shire. He is a dark liver chestnut with a distinctive flaxen mane and tail.
- Limited Edition for Brick and Mortar accounts only
- Not to be sold via the internet
Markus is the Shannondell mold in a beautiful silver black color. He is the loose mane version. I was a bit surprised to see this horse after the ‘leak’ of Sugarmaple whom I anticipated would be Breyer’s next release. Apparently I was wrong!
*Update, Sugarmaple was released at the same time as Markus
I’m delighted that Breyer chose the Shannondell mold. To date, he has only been released in 2 colors, the original Premier Club bay (with a loose and a braided mane version) and a bay roan pinto which was a BreyerFest 2017 Tent Special Run:

Breyer Sugarmaple – Clearware Fall Release Show Jumping Warmblood
Meet the Breyer Sugarmaple, a clearware Showjumping Warmblood in a fall theme. His color is a mixture of metallic gold and he has a fall leaf pattern. This horse is expected to be a Fall Release available to Breyer Dealers but I have no official information on him. He is expected to ship from Breyer in late August. This is also the time that Breyer is expecting the production delayed Calavera to ship and if we’re really lucky, Calavera and Sugarmaple can ship together! I
Celebrate fall colors and autumn trail rides with this limited edition model horse in metallic gold, decorated with a cascade of swirling leaves. 1:9 scale model is 12 1/2″W x 10″H.
He reminds me a bit of a cross between the Breyer Connoisseur Tempest and the BreyerFest Special Run Auriverde:

We are getting ready to put in our Breyer Flagship order for Beachcomber and I will see if I can find out more information on Sugarmaple’s imminent release. I will post more information on Sugarmaple as soon as a I have it! And yes, we will have Beachcomber for sale 🙂

Breyer Collector’s Club Show Jumping Warmblood Test Run Lottery
Breyer is once again offering Breyer 2017 Collector’s Club Members the chance at a Test Run Lottery. Winning the lottery gives you the opportunity to purchase a chestnut roan test run Breyer Show Jumping Warmblood. Collector’s Club Members may enter once per day until August 14th, 2017. The price for the winner to purchase is $850 including postage. At first, I thought this fellow looked a bit too similar to the Breyer 579 Show Jumping Warmblood in chestnut. However, the more I look at the test run, the more I see the differences between the two.

Exclusively for Breyer Collector Club members! Breyer test run models are initial decos painted up to see how a particular color might look on a particular sculpture. Or, they may be created to test out a painting technique or new colorway. Not all test run models are used, and they may vary over time as different painting techniques are developed and tested. Test run models are sold as is, with several photos and descriptions of any wear. We’ve decided not to attempt to touch up older test runs as we’ve found that this can alter their character and uniqueness. Each model has a fixed price and interested members enter a random draw for the ability to purchase the test piece. We enjoy sharing these special pieces with you and hope you enjoy them!
The action-packed Show Jumping Warmblood has had many test colors over the years. With his keen attitude and athletic stride, he wears a variety of hues well! This particular test run was painted circa early 2000’s. He’s a very well done splatter roan chestnut with three small socks with character, and a unique lightning blaze. His tri-eyes sport a U-shaped brown iris and eyewhites in the back corners of his eyes. He’s really nicely shaded on both the body and the mane and tail, with slightly darker lower legs and grey shading on the bottoms of his hooves. This fellow has a couple of irregular paint spots on his chest (visible in photos) and underneath (not shown). He also has a slightly rougher texture on his back from the way he was buffed. Overall, he’s a super looking test! He comes with standard clear base.
The Warmblood test piece is priced at $850 and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Only 1 piece is available for purchase.
I might just be tempted enough to enter this lottery for the chance to purchase. I’ll have to think on that blaze a bit though, I’m not sure that I’m a fan of it.

- Dunalino with dorsal and leg striping
- Bay roan Appaloosa
This year, I only purchased one Stablemate Club membership and I’m thinking that I might regret it. I really love the Icelandic Pony mold. I’ll be happy with any of the colors but I’m hoping for the glossy silver black or the bay roan appaloosa. Which is your favorite color?
