Regional BreyerFest & The Ultimate BreyerFest Survival Guide

The very first BreyerFest was held July 28th – 29^th 1990 at the Kentucky Horse Park. The event featured a dinner, seminars, demonstrations and a charity auction. The price of an admission ticket was $35 for an adult or $25 for a child. Approximately 1,000 people attended the 1997 BreyerFest. The featured Celebration horse was the Three-Day Event Champion Dr. Peaches. The Breyer 410090 Dr. Peaches was produced on the Phar Lap mold in bay with a broken blaze.

I attended my first BreyerFest in 1991 which was quite different from the very first BreyerFest. The 1991 BreyerFest was held as a regional event in 4 different locations across the country. I attended the BreyerFest in Pennsylvania. I still remember being shocked by what I then thought to be “the ugly bright blue” Sham that was available by raffle! The Celebration Horse was the Endurance Champion Mustang Lady. The Breyer 412091 Mustang Lady is portrayed on the popular Indian Pony mold. She is pretty grey with a freeze brand on her neck and an endurance number painted onto her left hip. I still have my Breyer Mustang Lady. She was an honorary member of my ‘carpet herd’ and shows some wear and tear but I still treasure her. The Celebration Model was the same for every regional BreyerFest. However, the raffle models were unique to the location and each was a very ‘unique’ color:

• The York, Pennsylvania BreyerFest was held on July 30^th and featured a Wedgewood Sham
• The Redmond/Bend, Oregon BreyerFest was held on June 8^th – 9^th and featured a Glossy Copenhagen San Domingo
• The Lexington, Kentucky BreyerFest was held on August 10^th – 11^th and featured a Gold Charm Man O’ War
• The Pomona, California BreyerFest was held on August 17^th – 18^th and featured a Glossy Florentine Legionario
